Super Retriever Series Crown Championship

SUPER RETRIEVER SERIES RETURNS TO SHREVEPORT-BOSSIER FOR YEAR THREE

Shreveport-Bossier, LA – The Super Retriever Series (SRS) is set to showcase the best all-around retrievers and sporting dogs as well as the top High Flying Super Dock dogs in the country in Shreveport-Bossier, LA.  The Crown Championship will feature over 150 dogs competing in outdoor sports in the field and on the dock for nine days of competition starting with the SRS Super Dock competition Sept. 29 – Oct. 1, 2023, at the Louisiana Boardwalk behind Bass Pro Shops, and Retriever Trials Oct. 2 – 8, 2023, at the WK Palmetto Clubhouse.

“We are excited to be coming to Shreveport-Bossier City for the third year to showcase the SRS Sporting dogs,” said Shannon Nardi, producer of the SRS. “We feel that Louisiana is a waterfowl capital, and our retrievers, as well as our Dock Jumping Dogs, will feel right at home.”

The public is encouraged to come jump their own dog on Fri., Sept. 29 before watching the competitive action in the finals on Saturday and Sunday. The Super Fly and Super V parts of the competition are similar to a track and field event, as they do the long jump, the high jump, and a speed race called “Raider Run”. In addition to the SRS Super Dock, there will be the SRS Retriever Trials which is a hybrid style of retriever trial that includes hunt tests, field trials, and all-around hunt savvy.

“Shreveport-Bossier City is proud to welcome back and host the 2023 Super Retriever Series Crown Championships,” said Sara Nelms, director of sports of the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission. “On behalf of the Sports Commission team and Shreveport-Bossier community, I would like to thank the Super Retriever Series for entrusting us with this incredible event for the third year, as well as Lt. Governor Nungesser and the Louisiana Office of Tourism, Margaritaville Resort Casino of Bossier City, the Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets, and the local sport dog community. We will deliver nothing less than world-class hospitality in sportsman’s paradise.”

Attendees of the SRS are encouraged to bring their families out to watch the competition.

“The Super Dock is a great family-fun event! Where else would you be able to watch dogs fly through the air at distances up to 30 feet and heights up to eight feet? These dogs are amazing athletes in their own right,” added Nardi.

Last year professional Stephen Durrence of Sylvania, GA and Mason, a 11-year-old black Labrador along with Amateur Ron Anderson of Ethel, LA, and his teammate Rip a 3-year-old Black Labrador received the coveted Crown and registered title of SRSCC through the registry at United Kennel Club.

The presenting sponsor, Eukanuba, is also proud to be a part of the SRS Crown Championship, highlighting these sporting dogs as the best in the country.

The 2023 SRS will have a record-breaking cash and prize package of $100,000. The final three Open Retriever winners and the final 3 Amateur Retriever winners go home with the bulk of this. One lucky qualified competitor will take home a THOR BOAT in a draw worth $18,000.00.

All events are free to the public. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and watch teams compete for the Prize packages and also for the coveted title of 2023 SRS Crown Champion.

For those who cannot join in person, the event will be live-streamed each day starting Sun., Oct. 1 on *YouTube Super Retriever Series. The schedule will be listed on the website as well as on the Super Retriever Series Facebook page. Coverage will be remastered for the networks in 2024.

Spectators can also attend the 2023 Pet Palooza on Sept. 30 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Louisiana Boardwalk. There will be vendors, food trucks, pet adoptions, free rabies vaccines, costume contests, and donations collected for Saved by Grace Animal Rescue.
