BOSSIER CITY, LA – The River Cities Track Club welcomes the USA Track & Field (USATF) Southern Association Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships to Bossier City on Saturday, Nov. 23 at South Bossier Park, located at 134 Crown Court Place. This open meet includes eight competitive divisions with select age groups and distances that range from 2,000-5,000 meters.

“The River Cities Track club is excited to bring the first-ever USA Track & Field event to South Bossier. We’re introducing an elevated style of competitiveness to our running community, and this is huge for us. Spreading awareness and gaining participation could potentially bring a national event to our home,” said Juan Plaza, Head Coach at River Cities Track Club.

This meet will serve as the qualifying meet for the 2019 USATF National Cross Country Championships that take place in Madison, Wisconsin on Saturday, Dec. 14. To qualify as an individual, the competitor must finish in the top 15 of their age group.  Anyone between ages 6-18 years old, living in Louisiana or Mississippi, can compete. “We agreed to host this event for two years, so we’re looking forward to next year as well. We’re grateful to have our community partners, the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission and Bossier Parish Parks and Recreation on board to help see this event through at its highest potential.”
