October 1-3: Crappie Expo and Mr. Crappie Invitational

The Shreveport Convention Center will host the third annual Crappie Expo October 1-3, 2021; and the Red River South Marina will host the Mr. Crappie® $250,000.00 Invitational September 30-Oct. 2, 2021.

The Crappie Expo will consist of over 100 crappie-related companies from all over the United States displaying their latest and greatest crappie fishing products – including boat manufacturers, tackle dealers, fishing guides, seminar speakers, live music… plus the World’s Largest Crappie Fry!

The Expo will be open from 10am to 6pm on Friday, October 1st and Saturday, October 2nd, and 10am to 5pm on Sunday, October 3rd. $10,000 dollars will be given away Saturday and another $10,000 on Sunday, the winner must be present to win! There will also be live music at 1pm each day. The World’s Largest Crappie Fry will be at the Shreveport Convention Center Saturday, October 2nd at 11am. This expo is anticipated to bring in 60,000 attendees and have an estimated direct economic impact of $2.6 million for Shreveport-Bossier City.

Entry is $10 for adults; kids 15 years old and under get in free!

October 14-16: Kayak Bass Fishing Expo and National Championship

KBF’s 2021 National Championship, presented by YakAttack, will take place October 13 – 15, 2021 with the awards presentation on Saturday , October 16 at the Shreveport Convention Center.  The KBF Expo will take place Thursday through Saturday, October 14-16th at the Shreveport Convention Center and will feature dozens of KBF sponsors, paddlesports manufacturers and merchants. Vendors will include Realtree Fishing, Dee Zee, Torqeedo, Fish USA, Bending Branches, Yak Attack, Dakota Lithium, Power Pole and Rogue Fishing Company. The KBF Expo will be free admission and open to the public and the Expo hours are as follows:

Thursday, October 14, 12PM-6PM
Friday, October 15, 10AM-7PM
Saturday, October 16, 10am-6PM

The KBF Championship contenders will be fishing not just a single lake but an entire system of river and lakes centered around Shreveport-Bossier City, Louisiana. Eligible water will include the Red River from the Hwy 2 bridge in the north to the mouth of Loggy Bayou on the south and the following five lakes within a 25 mile radius of the Event HQ:

  • Eligible water for all three days of competition will include the following five lakes and the Red River within a 25 mile radius of the Event HQ, plus tributaries up which one may paddle/float from the main bodies of water, except areas that are posted “Private, No Trespassing” or words to that effect.
  • Red River (See boundaries and restricted areas, below)
  • Caddo Lake (See boundaries, below)
  • Cypress Bayou Reservoir and Black Bayou Reservoir, together comprising the Cypress Black Bayou Recreation Area.
  • Lake Bistineau
  • Wallace Lake

October 15-24: Super Retriever Series Crown Championship

Shreveport-Bossier City will welcome 150 of the best all-around retrievers and sporting dogs to compete in outdoor sports in the Field and on the Dock for 7 days of competition starting with the Super Retriever Series (SRS) Super Dock competition on October 15-17, 2021, and Retriever Trials October 19 – October 24.

This event is FREE for the public to attend!

The SRS Super Dock competition will be behind the Bass Pro Shop in Bossier City, in between the river and the store.

The SRS Retriever Trials will be at the Frierson Plantation (10985 Harts Island Rd, Shreveport, la. 71115) however the exact location is still to be determined. October 20th to October 24th, Dawn to Dusk.

October 21-23: UKC Total Dog Invitational

The UKC Total Dog Invitational event is the most distinguished event for Total Dogs, giving those hardworking dogs and owners the chance to compete for a grand prize of $10,000 at the Shreveport Convention Center.

The three-day event will kick on Thursday with Weight Pull, Agility, and Nosework. On Friday, dogs can compete in Obedience and Rally Obedience. Dogs will earn performance points based on their qualifying scores. The event will conclude on Saturday with conformation and a formal awards dinner. Dogs that have qualified in at least one performance event will compete in a randomly selected conformation group where they will earn conformation points. Performance and conformation points will be calculated, and the top ten dogs will be announced at the evenings banquet.

 

This event is FREE for the public to attend at the Shreveport Convention Center!
